the only thing bothering me about the picture is that tophs eyes are closed because shes blinking, it just annoys me 😛

I suppose another reason could be that Zuko just isn’t used to being shown affection or chosen over (as Toph picked Zuko almost immediately), after all those long years of hardship.

That’s because before Zuko was angry and confused trying to regain his honor. that’s the first hug he gets from a girl after that.
