Someone asked how the anti-benders learned how to block chi; positing that it was self-taught. That may be but I think it more likely that they will have learned from masters already possessed of this martial skill. Remember, Ty Lee was already a master in this art and has used to great effect on many earth benders, Katara, Sokka and Azula. Eventually, she taught the art to kyoshi warriors while she trained to become one of them.
