The Legend of Korra Book 2 – Confirmed by Series Co-Creator + Awesome Art
Although we were already fairly certain / hoping that there was going to be a Korra Season 2, it’s now been confirmed by Korra Co-Creator Bryan Konietzko. In a recent blog post Bryan said:
- Season (Book 2) is Definitely happening
- It’s 14 episodes long
- Production on Season 2 of Korra is already underway
- Premiere date is unknown (though under 2 years)
- Much of The Legend of Korra Book 2 will take place outside of Republic City.
Here is a full quote:
Book 2 is happening, and is 14 episodes long. No, I don’t know when it comes out. REALLY, I DON’T. But no, it won’t be another two years from now, as we are already in production on it (that’s the brutal thing about TV, the schedule overlap). So all I can say, and it is the honest truth, is that we’re working really hard on it! – Bryan Konietzko
Now that is super exciting!
It also looks like production work for Book 1 of Korra is finished.
Major props to series creators and the entire Korra team for another masterpiece, it boggles my mind how they are able to do such incredible work.
I wish they could take a break as well but as i’m sure they will tell you, this type of cool stuff doesn’t make itself

Any speculation on the title of Book 2? In the past, it’s always been an element that the Avatar has to master. But Korra is a full fledged Avatar…..what could it be?

yeah i think it may be something about the spirit world…. mainly because of the end of the finale of season 1 had aang give korra her bending back because she had encountered the spirit world finally.

I think energy and spirit are all speculation, by the Avatar fan base. Since all the elements have been done in all 4 books, and Korra already knows how to bend all four elements.
But I think the next book will most likely be ‘Book 2: Water’. Since that will follow the Avatar cycle, with water coming after air, and it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that Korra learns waterbending or gets better at it. She could just be dealing with the Water Tribe, or something else to do with water.

It’s so true it could happen. It does not really mean Noahtok, though. Noahtok died. Amon however, is still alive.
Ideas never die, could it possibly mean that someone ELSE has taken Noahtok’s place as Amon?

Auctually the first season was called Book 1: Water in latin america, so im thinking it will be one of the other elements, im glad they came back with avatar, too bad i dont have cable, and who knows, when they are finished with korra, maybe it will go back in time about 100 years to the beginning of the 100-year war and tell about the avatar befor Aang?

Actually, she’s not really a full fledged Avatar as everyone thinks… She still needs to master the “spiritual” side of fire bending, as mentioned in the earlier episodes. That’s why it might be called spirit, because Korra is so tough and headstrong, it’s all physical bending with her. But I think in Season 2, she’s going to have to get into her spiritual side to be able to become the full Avatar she needs to be.

OK there is something going terribly wrong with my computer. but i will say exactly what i did…
first i typed the comment and clicked ‘add comment’ and the website got disconnected. Next, i pasted the exact same words to this box with a sad face because it would detect a duplicate comment even though the other one didnt show and there were no points given. then i refreshed the page and pasted the same thing i wrote again.

In that case, updating your browser or downloading a new one is of the utmost importance for you at this time.
Many sites are now only compatible with the latest browsers and IE6 may not allow many functions that the sites have to offer and it also has less security built in.
I suggest you upgrade to IE9, or download one of the following popular browsers:
Mozilla Firefox, and/or Google Chrome.

the only problem is that my computer is so terrible that every time you try to download a new browser it never works and it always asks if i have an ‘internet connection’ and theres nothing i can do except get a new computer.

Internet Explorer is the default browser in any Windows computer, developed by Microsoft.
Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are better than Internet Explorer because they have more plug-ins and are better developed. Google Chrome is especially known for its high-speed browsing, and the more recent apps and Chrome Web Store.
Mozilla Firefox is more open and many users that program prefer it.
Since you use Safari, do you have an Apple OS? Or do you just prefer it to the other ones available on the PC?

It’s perfectly fine to use the one you are most comfortable with and feel happy about. Just remember to update it to the newest version as not only will it be simpler to use and more fluid, it’ll also have new functions, support new things, faster browsing, improved security, and just overall better performance.

This might be a random question but why does Nick have all the episode of ATLA open where we can watch all of them also Nick has all the LOK episode open too is it to promote it more so people will buy the comics? Also does anyone know how long they will keep them up like what is the ussual time span before they take them down *because I want to re watch the whole thing

it would be great to have her not only mastering the elements but the sub-elements like metal, minerals, blood, lightning etc… (which is probably what will happen)
Aang had his legend not because of being the best, but because of the fact that he had to deal with a war at a very young age, my guess is Korra became legend as the strongest ever avatar (she could fight so many elements being just like 3 years old)
An arc line happening completely in the spirit world would be amazing as well, like a whole season if possible.
I am just a bit worried that the success of Avatar has been brought upon the bringing of new facts never known to the “avatar world” and not upon the originality of playing with all that they already have, more that someone who cooks with a few ingredients they have on the house, I feel like these people buy the best ingredients and so many leftovers are left unused. It doesn’t feel like scriptwriters posses any wit.
However I love the fact that Korra is the strongest, but I hate the feeling that the stronger she gets the stronger her enemies will be. Why can’t everyone else just be weak as they’ve always been? The “I need to be stronger to fight this stronger-than-me enemy”, “I need that skill and I’ll finish him off” way… has become… so american-cliche, almost like a game boy rol game

Book 2 should be good! I’m wondering who or what the new villain(s) will be though. I think it’d be awesome to see Korra actually enter the Spirit World and see what the Spirit World’s reaction to all the advancement in technology is/all the changes the Avatar world has experienced in the last 70 years. I also agree with the above comment that it would be cool to see Korra learn the sub-elements of metalbending (or at least being able to see with her earthbending like Toph and Lin) and lightening bending. It’d be interesting to see if she’d learn bloodbending though, with it being illegal and all.

I don’t think Noatak, or as you say, Amon, will still be alive. It isn’t like the creators to show us a truly heartfelt scene, followed by an explosion, then just to say that the people in the explosion are still alive in the next book.
Most likely, instead of there being another villain, which is too cliché, there will be some sort of new obstacle that Korra will have to overcome or some new goal that Korra will have to achieve.

They were right in the middle of the explosion. Just using morality, I feel that the creators won’t say, “Oh no, they didn’t die.” after showing us that scene. It would make people confused, and perhaps hurt.
But you’re right, there’s no confirmation of it yet.

Legend of Korra is awesome!!! at first i was obstinate in trying to like the show because nothing will ever beat the the last air bender but i grew akin to it because the story line the plot was incredible! I like Asami with Gen Iroh though hahaha wishful thinking! hope they’ll reconsider!

Well lets remember that this is only book one and I dont think ATLA got really good in book 2. I honestly didnt get into ATLA until the season 1 finale, and LOK is already as good as ATLA’s book 2.

If you really look at the only reason why she was in republic city was to learn air bending, now that she’s a full fledged avatar she doesn’t need to stay there. I think we’re going to see what it’s like for Korra to be an Avatar, and see what the duties of the Avatar are.
I’m thinking Korra will be traveling a lot so you’re 1.) going to be able to see more of the future post-ATLA world they live in now. and 2.) Meet either more character from ATLA or their descendants.

technically korra is not a fully realized avatar because she hasnt mastered airbending so she still needs to be in republic city but i dont think the gaang is going to stay in republic city for the whole season 2

They didn’t stay in Republic City the entire time during Book 1 either, Korra started off in the Southern Water Tribe and the season ended there too.
Also, remember that time when Tarrlok took Korra to a remote location in the mountains? But I suppose that doesn’t count
I’m pretty sure Korra will have more interaction with the United Forces and perhaps visit the Fire Nation, since she does mainly use firebending as well, it’s probably the place she would most likely go first.

well the main story took place in republic city.
I still don’t think Korra is a fully realized avatar yet, yes Tenzin has been teaching her the basic so far and we haven’t seen him teaching her anything advanced yet seeing as how she couldn’t air bend before.
Amon had unlocked her ability to air bend and Aang restored her connection with the other elements. I think we will probably see Korra learning more advanced air bending techniques from Tenzin and maybe seeing Jinora get her air bending tattoos( i’m not sure how far along her training would be right now but judging from the kids fight with the equalists i would say shes getting close). This will probably be in the first couple of episodes.
I think we will also see Korra and Makos relationship blossom more and the friendship between Korra and Asami get stronger. Asami is a pretty cool chick and i can’t see her being a jerk to Korra because Mako finally figured out his feeling for her it would also be very clichéd if she did, and i think it would be out of character for her.
We will probably also see more of General Bumi, Kya, Zuko and other new characters. I hope we will be in for an excellent second season of The Legend of Korra.

Book 2 takes place 6 months after Book 1 and Korra has been seen going into the Avatar State at will now, so it seems she’s now a fully realized Avatar

I just watched the season finally and i can’t help but feel the whole season was well…rushed. I liked the idea of the plot but i feel that the developers could of spaced it out better. Like at the end, instead of giving Korra all her bending skills back they should of left it for the second book.
I was hoping that the plot would have been for her to get in touch with her spiritual side more and unlock the secrets of the avatar-not give it all to her in one episode. They could have also dragged out Amon as the villan-i mean killing him at the very end, didn’t like that so much.
Whether you agree or disagree is up to you but I feel like the season was rushed. They should have korra focusing on airbending and learning about her spiritual side-without the distraction of the other elements.
Also I was really disapointed that she didn’t go into the avatar state at all this season! I know thats probably because of her lack of connection with her spiritual side but still-her subconscious could have taken over or something!

while I agree with your sentiments, the reasons the season was rushed was that when the writers had to write the plot for it, the whole series was slated to be only one season. Nick had not in fact signed on a second season by the time the first 12 episodes had been written and planned, and it would have been extremely undesirable to leave Korra without 3 elements (which she trained and worked for if you’ll recall) especially at what at the time was essentially the series finale. It would be like Aang being completely locked out of the avatar state after Sozin’s comet.

okay the series was first green lighted on july 21 2010 with 12 episode first season. It was given 14 episode on march 8 2011. so they had a year to rewrite the first season. so might had been able to rewrite it.
SO 1st option, they didn’t have time to rewrite it.
2nd they thought the story was good as it was.
3rd nickloden didn’t want them to rewrite it.
In the interview they said the series would only focus on on vilian per season. So i think they like the ending for the season 1.
I dislike the finale but i still love the concept of avatar.

this is kinda an unrelated question but what is the sub-element for air? I mean firebending is lighting, earth bending is metal bending and water is blood bending, but what’s air bendings sub-element?

I reckon the air element was most closely associated with Spirit… at the end of Aang’s adventure when he meets the lion-turtle it tells him how they used to bend spirit before the elements… then he bends Ozai’s spirit to turn off his bending…
although it could be interesting to see some other expression of air bending.. i’d like it to be time, but i’m not sure that fits as such…

Just finished watching LOK. Great show. The end episodes were very good, building the suspense really well. I do prefer ATLA just at the moment because I didn’t feel the need for all the lovey dovey stuff with Korra and Mako, Bolin and Asami so soon. I suppose the slighty more innocent charm of Aang, Katara, Sokka and co made them more likeables.

The reason they had to kind of rush the relationship is because Korra was already made before season 2 was confirmed. It was supposed to be a stand alone mini-series, so they had to get a lot if not most loose ends tied up.

Id really like to see the comedy of original series in this one. MEELO IS HALARIOUS. but he doesnt have much help. Sokka had aang, aang had bumi, bumi had issues lol. Even appa had jokes. Oh and dont let them mess up your next movie. Keep it authentic and foundationally true like the cartoon. Tribe makes me think indian, african, alaskan, hindu. Casting was off. But sokka wasnt funny in the movie. My 2 cents

does anyone know the answer to this? i was re-watching the finale of Korra, and i came to realize that none of Tenzin’s children ( Jinora, Ikki, Meelo. not Rohan for he is a non-bender) have a blue arrow running down their forehead and around their arms, back, and legs. why? are they too young? they are in fact air benders. Aang has blue arrows, and he was 12. Do they grow into that or something?

we dont know about Rohan yet. but as for the other ones the tattoos are given once they are a master. Aang got his at 12 because he was an Airbending genuis.
we dont know the ceremony in which they go through to get the tattoos but they get it once they become a master. they have so many things they have to master and then they have to create a move. (Aang’s air scooter)

Airbenders have to master all 36 levels of airbending or invent a new airbending move before they get their tattoos. Aang got his at the age of 12 (youngest Air Nomad to get tattoos) because of his invention of the Air Scooter.

Avatar is neither just about Aang or just about Korra or any of those characters. It is a universe of it’s own with 1000′s of years of story to explore.
There are well over 1000 Avatars, so while we may not get more episodes focused on Aang or about Korra once it ends. We will get more Avatar content as the creators have so many ideas.
Comics will be the place for more Aang content.

I love how general Iroh has zukos old voice, in the next season I wanna learn more Zuko, and his story about his mother, and how his life played out. (he was my fave) Because they show sokka, katara, aang, and toph in the future, but not Zuko… Wonder what he was up to

I agree with you on what you said about his mother. I ATLA they state that she is alive. And on the last episode Zuko visits his father in prison and asks where his mother is then later it kinda just ends and leaves you hanging. I usually like those kind of things and am excited 4 the next episode but it was the last episode!

We don’t actually know much about the past Avatars, there may have very well been.
We only know about Aang, and Roku’s childhood, to some extent.
Korra was head-strong and very physical, thus could bend three elements (but only the basics) by the age of four.

Well, Aang was completely alone with no teachers when he awoke from the iceberg. He only knew Air Bending. But Korra was founded as the Avatar at a young age, so she could begin training right away. Considering she also lived around many experienced Water Benders, she would have no trouble as a child training with the elements.

I think that the second season will be about firebending… and a little romance stuff too. If you’ve noticed in the beginning episodes, they talked about how Korra did not master the “spirtual” side of firebending, so she still has to do that. Also, even with Mako and Korra together, there will be some drama because he hasn’t even broken up with Asami officially yet. IN ADDITION, they have introduced some new characters such as General Iroh, and Tenzin’s brother that will most likely be important..

It’s about spirits and the spirit world. I think there’s more of a spiritual side to being the Avatar, not just firebending. However, if there’s a spiritual side to any of the elements it would be air, not fire. She made progress in the last few episodes, but the 2nd season should show her mastering the spiritual side.

I don’t think it was just fire-bending that troubled her (spiritually), I think it was the entire concept. Otherwise she would have gone avatar state when Amon ambushed her in “The Voice In The Night”. That’s what I think at any rate.

Yeah. I think the next chapter will be Water. Because it says in the description that most of Book 2 will take place outside of Republic City. So just some speculation…Following the Avatar Cycle? Book 2: Water? Setting-Northern and/or Southern Water Tribe? They did end off this chapter in a water tribe. So I personally believe the next book will be Water.

sokka is impossible cause that would make lin and tenzin first cousin, which is impossible in mainstream america,(the creator are american). My culture woul be okay with first cousin mariage because they belived only to follow the father bloodline. Thus lin and tenzin would be okay. but i doubt/impossible toph married sokka, maybe after her first husband died….

Well ATLA first Aired in 2005 and finished in 2008 and that is not including production time before the series started which was about 2-3 years or so from concept to the unaired pilot to the series starting.
So there is nothing strange about what we have seen so far, the wait for a first season is always huge as we knew about the series from crazy early in production and were waiting for pretty much all of production.

ATLA after it’s first book was good, but is very much like Korra in that it had issues and ATLA became the great show it is now because of how amazing Book 2 and 3 are

I am wondering…
How will Korra go to the spirit world???
Maybe she will only be there intelectually but not physically.
Maybe she will be teleported there somehow.
Or maybe she will make contact with spirits in the normal world.
