The Legend of Korra panel at SDCC just ended, and a lot of information was revealed there! Here is a quick list of some of the major things that were talked about in the panel, which we’ve gathered from the various fans who were at the panel and used twitter throughout the presentation:
A trailer was shown, and they used the music from the ATLA season 3 trailers.
The city is called United Republic and it was founded by Aang and Zuko.
The two guys in the poster with Korra are Mako (firebender) and Bolin (earthbender), and they are brothers.
The polar bear dog is female and her name is Naga.
Bolin has a pet fire ferret named Paboo.
There will be new flying bison and new lemurs.
There will be two seasons — season 1 will have 12 episodes, season 2 will have 14 episodes.
Aang and Katara had three kids, Tenzin being the youngest and only airbender.
Tenzin has three kids of his own.
Anti-benders use chi-blocking.
There are metalbending cops.
Toph traveled the world to teach metalbending after the war was over, and her daughter Bei Fong is the chief of police.
There will be mixed martial arts in the series, and the music was described as 1920s jazz invented by the Chinese.

How is there a sky bison if appa was the last one? Not that I don’t want there to be more, appa was the best! P.S older aang glimpse when it shows the statue

Aang probably found another herd hidden somewhere, or Appa had offspring with another species. The offspring “coincidently” took after their father (Appa) more then the mother.

Well I think this would have to go back to the raids on the Air Temples and how exactly they happened, by the sounds of things the Air Nomads remained where they were and it was the FN who brought the fight to the temples losing a lot of men just reaching the temples.
Because of this using the Sky Bison to battle especially knowing that as a species they do not seem to fond of Fire, would not have been to good of an idea, and knowing the Air Nomads love all life they would not have wanted to see their companions killed so probably asked them to leave and hide.
There had to have been a few Sky Bison that escaped the genocide and hunt afterwards. A secret community somewhere of Sky Bison. That Comic con poster Aang in a field with Bisons may just be canon now.
The Sky Bison as such were never targets of Sozin’s raid, they probably just got in the way, he just wanted to find the Avatar.
We will probably find out in the Promise, but Something along those lines had to have happened

That was what I was thinking too, Aang probably just found another heard, the Appa breeding program (lol) was just random. Appa was definetly scared of fire, but I don’t recall them saying all Sky Bison were afraid. Of course, It seems logical to assume that, but who knows? Maybe the Sky Bison couldn’t stand to see their companions be hurt either, so they protected (tried too, anyways) the airbenders.
Sozin might have wanted to kill all airbenders, he didn’t know which one was the avatar, so he could have thought “Hmm, maybe I”ll kill all of the airbenders, just in case.”
Sozin probably knew that Sky Bison were airbenders main transport and friend, so to avoid any of the airbenders from escaping, he could have wanted to kill the bisons too.
I think that in the Lost Adventure’s book, they showed that the FN hunted down the airbenders who escaped by setting up traps. (I don’t know how to describe the traps =/)

The trading card game while the characters like Afiko are not canon give a bit of insight into this as well as Relics as you say.
After the initial raids on the temples they hunted down the remaining airbenders who fled the temples using the relics of the Air Nomads as ploys to lure them out.
It is hard to know about the Sky Bison’s fears, but Appa was also afraid of being underground too, I guess the fact that they are covered in fur that could easily catch fire wouldn’t make them easy around fire.
Ohh , I almost forgot, a pretty good explanation the baby Sky Bison (who live in the Eastern Air Temple) were probably the ones who escaped, they would be too young to fight and their mother would have probably stayed back to protect their escape. I from what we see usually a mother bison has about 6-7 babies, A few were probably caught but enough would probably survive to start a small group of Bisons enough to leave a small herd for Aang to find.

Where did ya hear “april” 2012? After scouring all the SDCC info I can find I wasn’t able to find any release date specifics other than mid-2012. Knowing the month now is quite exciting!! I kinda wish it was February tho (I can’t even calculate how awesome a birthday would be if it was shared with the Korra premiere!)

You are correct Dom, April 2012 was something someone put on Avatar Wiki for a while, no source and some Facebook pages took that as the release date.
Just some rumors that spread.
Mid 2012 was the last date revealed a few months ago.

I hate to be pessimistic, but something tells me this is going to be the Star Wars Prequels of the last airbender animated series. The Original Series was so good I would fear that this would become the Phantom Menace of the series. But it does look promising.

Well if Avatar fans are going to be like those Star Wars fans who don’t like the Prequels , then yes Korra probably won’t be a success, but I don’t think they are. If everyone gives Korra a fair chance then I see no reason why it will not be good, I think some fans are kind of have that mind set that “Original is and will always be best”. Once people do not think like this and are open to Korra then everything should work out well.
We all need to be open to the change.
I am also a Star Wars fan and I like the prequels just as much as the originals.
Hopefully with with Korra the Avatar fans will not get a bad case of “Negative fandom” as what happened with the movie.

I am glad they didn’t try to continue aang crew’s story. That would probably be as bad as the last air bender movie was.
Korra looks promissing because the story follows the logic of one avatar in each generation, so there was no way to keep the story line alive and exciting if not to jump to the next avatar. ^^

I’m so excited about this! I’m so lucky that I bumped into this on a comment on youtube. Does anyone know if its going to show on nick or nicktoons? I don’t have nicktoons on my tv but I do have nick! I love the show so much but I hate the movie it’s so stupid and really makes no sense at all!
