    Quite long (clocking in at 10 pages).. but a VERY hilarious read if you were at least ‘slightly’ upset after leaving walking out of the theatre that fateful night last summer.

    http://www.agonybooth.com/movies/The_Last_Airbender_2010.aspx

    Please Post your Reactions/ favorite lines! Here is mine (covering the infamous earthbending scene)

    “Oh, and all the earthbenders are Asian. I guess that’s okay, because none of them have names and they all look like idiots.” — Fun laughs.

    Disclaimer: We all know M. Night did ‘try’ to make the movie well, but because he clearly did not, I believe it’s fair to joke about it.

    Happy reading!

    I didn’t find that funny at all, it was clearly meant to be, but it didn’t work at all, he was just so picky it came across as just angry at the movie.
    Throughout the article he mentioned how he would not complain about it not being show accurate, yet that is pretty much what he did throughout. He even went as far to say that it is difficult to adapt a Television show to a movie yet just said this is a bad attempt, his example to explain this just made no sense.
    I liked the movie, and can joke about some of the not so good moments but this article was just bad, it was just way to picky, it is a summer blockbuster movie not a cinematic masterpiece.

    Given that the show had to adapt 20 episodes to 90 minutes, and 20 episodes where it was a new town nearly every episode. It was done well not amazing.

    I hope other people can enjoy this article, it was just way to negative not a single attempt to be positive.

    I lol’d a couple times throughout the review (mostly at the parts about how MNS treated women throughout the movie which I didn’t really notice until he pointed it out). I also liked how he continued to write Soak-a, Ong, Eeroh and Ah-vatar throughout the article as well.

    I can agree with a lot of what he said was bad about the movie but he didn’t cover some of the things that were done well with it. I didn’t like the movie but there were certainly some other good aspects to it that didn’t make me hate it.

    He did a good job pointing out things that I noticed but most people never really talked about. Things like how Aang’s name wasn’t revealed for a while, unnecessary dialogue, the “we could have been friends” line at the wrong spot, how Zhao knew Zuko was the Blue Spirit, etc.

    Thanks for the link, it was a fun read IMO.

    LOL, very welcome. I definitely had some great laughs with it too, and I’m pretty sure that was the author’s intent — I hope..!

    I had to laugh at the pure nonsense of some of the scenes in the movie. did anyone notice the seen where the earthbenders fight back in the prison? there all doing theses super powerful poses and forms, and the one little rock just slowly floats along. than a random guys shoots it at a firebender with one movement.

    WHAT THE HECK! That was just not right. It was a complete act of disrespect.

    Yes! For me that scene was comedic relief LOL. My friends and I actually parodied last year at a birthday party… I present to you: Dorito Bending!!

    ** I should point out that the birthday boy never watched the show nor the movie, and had no idea what was going on LOL! **

    I didn’t have a problem at that scene, I just saw that group as doing Battle movements for intimidation and distraction they were not affecting how the on guy bended the Rock.
    It was just a case of terrible choice of shot as opposed to silly scene, a different camera angle to show more of a distance between them would have fixed any problems. Do we even know that that group of guys are even benders.

    One of the only points in the movie I really didn’t like was when Aang goes to meditate to go into the Spirit World and he says something along the lines of
    “Monks can meditate for 2 days straight” that was a plain weird line to just add in as exposition, my reply “Cool story bro”

    @airspeed

    I honestly felt the group of earthbenders “were” the ones bending the boulder across the battlefield based on their movements and when the rock appeared on screen, or otherwise that scene was very poorly shot. And yes very true, I feel there were more than a few lines were “cool story bro” would apply.. but I digress, LOL.

    At least we can agree on something when it comes to the movie, Airspeed, because that is easily one of my two most hated moments in the movie. It just made no sense at all to me. Why say it? It’s not from the show. It adds nothing to the movie. It was poorly scripted anyways. My other most hated moment was Aang saying “We could have been friends” at the completely wrong spot in the movie. It didn’t make sense when he said it whereas it did make sense where he said it in the show.

    Lets not forget who assisted on the script of the movie though, Mike and Bryan had an involvement in if the script got approved.

    I liked where We could have been friends was placed, it again made the movie continuity different to the show, and technically it was a very similar moment, both times were to do with Aang saving Zuko. I see no problem whatsoever with the placement of this line, it is not out of place except if you are comparing between the two different continuities then it is just a matter of the movie not being an exact copy, which it was never meant to be or going to be.

    I could be wrong here, but I could’ve sworn that in The Last Airbender, it was when Aang froze Zuko in ice to escape him that he told Zuko that they could be friends, which in my opinion made zero sense.

    Yes, but Why does it make no sense ?
    Technically if this scene makes no sense then the shows version also makes no sense, unless the only reason it makes no sense is because it is different than the show, which in itself makes no sense as the movie and show are different continuities.

    @nagaismypatronus Awesome! Thanks! Although we were met with a lot of awkward silence afterwards, you can tell from the video the three of us we very proud of our abilities.. LOL :D

    @airspeed Since in the show Aang was saying that they could be friends because Aang helped save Zuko while Zuko was breaking Aang out of jail. This makes sense for the “we could be friends,” since they both showed kindness to each other when Aang said it.

    In the live action, it isn’t the case: Zuko is chasing Aang down, and Aang is able to escape with some water bending. Right before Aang leaves to meet with others he shoots the line off to Zuko, as he’s stuck there slowly melting himself free out of the ice. I honestly don’t see the similarity.

    @domski
    Really ?, in both scenes Zuko is in some way incapacitated, Aang knows that he is not with the rest of the fire Nation because he saved him earlier, just like in the show he knows that Zuko is still a threat hence why he doesn’t free him himself, so he leaves Zuko there to get himself out, leaving him with that line to think about as he frees himself.

    Yes it probably would have been better if it was in the same place as the show, but it has pretty much the exact same effect where it is placed.
