    Just finished The Night Circus – due out in September, totally amazing! 2 magicians pit their protogie apprentices against each other and the only way to win this competition is for one of them to die…. One is a natural gifted magician who can manipulate anything and the other is an Occulted learned magican who uses spells and charms to create his illusions… The stage – an amazing circus, that is only in the colors of black and white, and only open at night… it has multiple tents and a clock that moves slowly throughout the night… the challenges are not as straight forward and the decriptions of the circus and all it’s amazing tents and what magnificent works that the magicians create for each other…. there’s murder, mystery and the final show down creates some unexpected turns :D

So good devoured in 2 days including working full time and running my house, so yeah, who needs sleep is what I put in the review I did for work! Definitely Adult due to the horror genre, and it looks like Speilberg got the movie rights and is working on it at present! The ending… leaves you wondering did it die or not…. :D

    I am going back through the Halo books, just finished “The Fall Of Reach”, really amazing book.

    I love the halo universe in general, you may think it is just battle after battle. but it is more than that, it deals with the survival of humanity how we can band together to take on a common enemy. Then the origins of the Spartan II’s really shows you the things that need to be done to save the world.

    It has an amazing space battle scene, with some stunning tactics.

    Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 is a really good character, from when we met him at 6 years old to where the story ends with him having served in the military for 30 years since then.

    10/10

    On to “The Flood” the novel of the first game.

    Finished reading “World War Z” by Max Brooks. Its a great book that takes you around the world to give you stories of the war at each of it’s stages from people everywhere, from the head of the CIA to a Chinese submarine captain.

    Nice! I’m about to order a copy of WWZ . I hear a movie’s coming out, so I’m pretty pumped for it.

    Just reread Harry Potter. I’m dying to continue The Stand by Stephen King, but I’m reading the Awakening by Kate Chopin for summer reading. The protagonist in that book is an epic fail. Beautiful writing, but terrible Mary-Sue characters abound.

    I’m really excited to be reading some medical nonfiction books when I get my free time back in September. “How Doctors Think” and “Hot Lights, Cold Steel” jumped out as being really awesome. I’m quite excited!

    In the Harry Potter books the characters are so clumsy and sloppy.

    They just trip and fumble and fall, they spill this and they drop that, they forget? this and fail at that. If those books where realistic they would have been dead long ago (and there would be no magic).

    I am currently going through The Hunger Games Trilogy in Audiobook form.
    Finished the first one, just about done with the 2nd one.

    So far it is enthralling, but I am pretty worried about where things may be going in book 3. 1 was a fantastic introduction to the world and ideas, in 2 they found a way to make the games important again to the main characters.
    With 3 I am fairly confident that the author can finish things off well. I will report back when I have finished the series. My little sister has read it all and loved it.

    I am so excited for the movie now :)

    @airspeed

    The Hunger Games was recommended to me by my co-coach last year (I coach volleyball each year). The premise didn’t grab me like other stories, but I know it is extremely popular and the movie looks fantastic. (I didn’t read Harry Potter until the first few movies came out…same with Eragon, and I kicked and screamed when it came to Twilight, but enjoyed those books as well). Perhaps if I see the first movie, it will inspire me to read the entire series.

    BTW, just borrowed the Swedish version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie series (all 3) ….loved the English version (just the first one).

    @aangfan
    I was worried about the premise when I first heard it too, but when you understand the backstory as to why the Hunger Games exist it all became clear and interesting to me. At least that was the part that really pulled me in.
    I have a problem in that I just struggle to read many books and I love reading, some like Darren Shan books I can absolutely fly through, but most books I just end up going down the Audiobook route where I can listen to it on the go and stuff.
