I’ve recently discovered that certain species of cacti do have hallucinogenic properties if you consume their juice.
Cactus that Sokka drinks juice from in the Si Wong Desert
But what species of cactus is this? And does it have these properties?

    We should look into this.

After some research, I’ve figured out that the most plausible solution is that the Si Wong cactus was modelled after the peyote cactus, which can be found in the Chihuahuan Desert of Mexico and the U.S.

It does have hallucinogenic qualities and looks fairly similar to the cactus found in the show. (Bulbous ends, pink flowers, etc.)

However, this cactus does not grow nearly as tall as the one seen in the show, but we can expect changes to be made, since this is a world where turtle ducks are considered normal and bears are not.
