Sooo i was arguing with friends bout avatar—

Are the air monks allowed to marry?
Where are all the female air monks?
Do they reside in the eastern temple?
How was aang placed in the care of gyatso?
Do kids grow up, find they have bending skills, and get sent somewhere to learn?
Is that the system?
What happened to aangs parents….?
Are you born with bending skills?
Is it destiny and/or hereditary?

Focus less on the where and more on the GOING

Wow thats alot of Questions.Ok regarding Air nomads
-All Air Nomads are Airbenders
-There are Female Air monks example Avatar YangChen and the woman that brought Aang to chhose his bison
-Eastern Air temple is the one that has all the female Air monks,it has a statue of Avatar Yangchen
-I think all the baby air nomads are Raised communally but are looked after mostly by one specific monk
-As they are monks the children are separated from their parents so they have no attachments as Air nomads are meant to detach themselfs from the world.

Whether bending is genetics or spiritual is a massive debate in the fandom.
but i think because of all air nomads are very spiritual and being benders proves that its spiritual.But also a bit genetic as in 114 there are twins and 1 can earthbend and one cant.

If u look closely at the Airbender culture…it’s parallel to buddhist and mostly asian philosophies as are the other nations to some degree. Altho, in the series, there was little on whether an air nomad necessarily was or had to be an airbender…but at least most we saw were or in the process of becoming one. I wonder if there was another season, whether Aang would have the air nation be born again…maybe make some babies with Katara lol *shrugs*

If bending is something youre born with, is it in your unique chi or genetic code????

Yea, not unlike our world lol..where some ppl are naturally more talented to be good at sports or anything really but it’s possible for just about anyone to learn it. In the Avatar world, everyone has an inner chi or inner energy but some just never learn to tap into it…of course with the Avatar, they r “chosen” in each Avatar passing cycle.
