Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you are and/or when you’re reading this forum. My name is Avatar10, and I want to talk about the future of the Avatar franchise. Now that the LOK (Legend of Korra) series is over, everybody’s been wondering what will happen to the series next. (Or, at least I have. I don’t really read comics. My parents are pretty strict and overprotective.) The big question I’m asking is, “Is there going to be another Avatar series?” I mean there seems to be enough change in Seasons 2, 3, and 4, and hints that another series might come to our devices. Some people say that the directors are done with the entire franchise and moving on, but I’m a bit skeptical about that. I think they just need some time to make another series. Possibly 4 years (the amount of time it took between the very end of ATLA and the very beginning of LOK (I could be wrong.)). It’s very exciting to find out the future in the fandom and the franchise.

So, I have an idea. This will be a, if not the, forum for updates. Every update that happens and every question asked by many Avatar fans will be solved here. Everyone can join! It’ll be great and fun! I promise!

Alright. I’ll keep track of everything that happens in this forum. Until updates are posted on here, good day, good night, wherever you are.

Personally, lots of people might feel skeptical for another series in the franchise for a bunch of reasons. A major one is when Nick pulled Korra from on-air and decided to put it on their website. By doing so, lots of fans assumed that Korra wasn’t doing so well. But Korra did somewhat better online, and the reason it didn’t do well on air IMO is because of Nick’s poor advertising and scheduled times. The ads were good but really didn’t grab Nick’s majority of audiences.

But I think it will go on, because you can’t really ignore such a profitable franchise, and I agree with you that it might take a while before Nick allows for another series to continue.korra might just need to feel in more views on Nicktoons or something before they can continue with another series. Plus, no one expected another series after ATLA but here we got Korra. Similarly, I believe that we will get another series, but it might just take some time.

There’s also apparently a petition for Hulu or Netflix to buy LoK/ATLA. There’s a forum post on it if you want to check it out.

I get that you might not be able to read the comics but you should definitely check them out. It might sound weird but there might be YouTube videos of the comic pages shown, so that you can read them on there. It’s not as good as getting the comic itself, but hey, at least you’ll be updated. And even with the comics, it would take forever to get all the possible story lines finished, which is why I think another series should be coming out. I mean the best we can do is hope, and help promote Korra as much as possible.

@swagshag I can see what you mean by the ranking of LOK. Not only were the commercials not gripping enough, but I think more people use the computer to watch TV shows than an actual TV. Some people might even think that the TV is turning into a lost invention after being in America for almost 90 years. Or, at least that’s what I’ve experienced.

I also see from what you’ve typed that the company will need another couple dozen batches of money in order to continue to make the franchise be back on TV, if they decide to make a third series. I think that they have to make a third and fourth series to show the Avatars in action born as an Earthbender and a Firebender.

Can you please send me links to the petition and YouTube videos of the comics? I’ve gotten lots of time on my hands, and I’m going back to school tomorrow after a long winter break. Thanks!

@avatar10 well here’s the link to the actual petition.

    https://www.change.org/p/hulu-acquire-the-avatar-series-from-nickelodeon?just_created=true

And then this is the link to the forum where everyone talks about the petition here.

Yeah I agree with you, a complete avatar cycle would be ideal. Then we can see how each one slightly differs, and we might get to see more of each nation. I know it might be too much to ask, but I’d want an animated series of the time intervals too. Even though the comics have them, nothing beats animation lol. And yeah, I feel like more ppl use laptops and stuff more than TV. I usually only go on TV to watch Korra, but ever since that got taken off, I watch mostly everything online. But still, better ads would help the cause as there are still tons of ppl that watch Nick on TV.

I got school tmrrw too :/ lol

Yea it was a toss up mainly. Nick “felt” Korra was not on par in comparison to ATLA..due to plummeting ratings..but may have had to do with late air times..where lotta ppl and kids would be heading to bed. However, I am all for another series..but would be good for creators/writers to take a vacation, reflect and relax some..then come back and see where they are. I am optimistic about the series being continued…however if so..I think it will be at least a year before we see it or even start hearing about it…but I could be wrong lol..just my hopes.

Btw, I signed that petition :) I hope we get enough soon.

I started trying to promote the petition online using Twitter. Not really sure if it worked, but from time to time I do post the link and encourage people to sign it. And I just noticed you asked me for the Youtube Videos for the comics. I lost the links, :/ but I can find them again, its not a big deal. I kinda wrote this in a hurry so I don’t have them right now but I’ll post them on here afterwards :P

@swagshag I can’t believe 7 months after signing my first ever petition that this petition hasn’t achieved victory yet!

I think that there should be another question. It would be “What do we do with this very website now?” Recently, I’ve seen people talking about the comics which I can’t get unless there’s a copy of the first ever edition in the Newberry comic store. Otherwise, I have no idea what anyone’s talking about here.

The problem with the petition is that even if it did reach its goal, most people know nothing would happen. It is a great idea, but the amount of business stuff that would need to happen is crazy to do on the back of a fan petition.

You bring up the comics and they would be affected by any Avatar franchise purchase. if Netflix owned Avatar would they take over the comics, what would the Dark Horse deal be like, what about the previous 2 series, I am sure Nick would want to keep hold of them to get money from dvd sales.

As for the comics, they are fairly cheap to buy online and if you have a local comic store they should have some of them, if not I am sure you can ask them to order them in for you. That and some regular book stores sell them also. It is definitely a good time to get into the comics if you have don’t know about them.

@airspeed Wait. I’m sorry. I’ve been off of this site for a while now, and I’m quite behind. What Dark Horse Deal? Is this the deal for a third series?

    @avatar10
Just the deal that Nick have with Dark Horse Comics, Dark Horse cannot just randomly make Avatar comics they have to make a deal with Nick to use the Avatar licence . And if Netflix bought Avatar you cannot know for sure if they would also keep the comics deal going or if they would just ignore the comics. Remember that the comics still have the Nick logo on them even if Nick are barely involved with them.

Basically what I am getting at is just that it is a nice and easy thing to say that we want netflix of somewhere to buy Avatar and it would be that easy, we suddenly have the best team in charge. But any purchase would have so many details to it that would potentially not make it worthwhile for Netflix to even attempt getting Avatar.
