I guess I will start, the story is shaping up to be amazing.

We still have to see the start of the book with the Zuko Ozai conversation continuing on from 321 “Where is my mother ?”
We have not heard anything from Iroh or Azula.

What the Promise is is absolutely amazing IMO, Zuko trying so hard not to be like his father but still doesn’t trust himself so he tells Aang to kill him if he goes to far. The problem of the Fire Nation colonies and the conflict of “is it right or wrong to displace those families” and how this affects the Promise. Aang dealing with this.

Then the shipping stuff, KATAANG is so sweet and cute while MAIKO is good, but once again Zuko is so conflicted. The lack of SUKKA has me worried especially with Suki working for Zuko and away from Sokka.

We are still missing a lot and there is still 2 more parts so any problems I have now will most likely be resolved.

IMO means In My Opinion.

I have been pretty shocked with some of the negative stuff said about this book. I think my prediction of Negative Fandom is starting to come true, most people have just been really excited but some have just been super negative towards every aspect of the book except the Art.

I am not saying that everyone has to blindly accept everything Avatar, but I do wonder if these people being negative will like any Avatar beyond the show.

The main thing people have been negative, and while it is minor and is fairly silly, I just don’t get why people hate it so much.
Sweetie, Aang and Katara calling each other that. Look at their relationship and how they are around each other, their relationship is sweet, it may sound super sweet but they are truly in love and based of their characters it is perfectly in line. And the fact that the other characters make fun of that is great.

Others have complained about pretty much everyone being out of character (OOC), and honestly I do not think anyone is OOC, I would consider myself as extremely knowledgeable about Avatar and I just do not see it.
Aang has taken on his role more seriously now, he has to bring peace back to the world after 100 years of war, he now has Katara as his girlfriend, the girl he was in love with from the first moment he saw her.
Katara is completely in character, her reaction to Aang nearly ending Zuko is just like her, compassionate and caring for her boyfriend, she and Toph seem to have a great relationship now, we do not have context yet to the fight so it is too harsh to judge that, but to say Katara is not feisty like that is wrong. Look at “Boys Day Out”, her fight with Pakku.
Toph seems to be accepted well, as does Sokka minus the Oogies thing.
I admit that is a bit weird, but It will be explored in Part 2

and Finally Zuko, people have been raging about this. I thought this was an excellent and unexpected character path for Zuko post 321, we have yet to see the end of the 321 conversation with Ozai or anything regarding Ursa or Azula.
But we see that like Aang he is tasked with bringing peace to a wartorn world, he has taken over from Ozai so people will be wary of the new Fire Lord. He has a stressful job and he knows his past and habit of making mistakes, hence the Promise with Aang, Zuko does not want to become like his father. Iroh is not around from what we see, probably still at the Jasmine Dragon, So Zuko does not have his rock that he has had throughout his path.
The main plot regarding removing the colonies is changing him, he is in a lose lose situation.
He has to remove the colonies to bring back peace and show the Fire Nation is on a new path, but these colonies are innocent people, the colonies are their homes, so he would be uprooting whole towns.
This is most likely where United Republic will come in, IMO it will start as a city to place the colonies and war refugees and expand from their.

Someone please tell me if I am completely wrong regarding how others are seeing this book.

I just feel that Fandom should be a positive place, we are here because we enjoy Avatar, here we are getting the continuation of the show that is 100% canon, this is how things happen and instead of what we should be doing and being excited and supportive, some people are just complaining.

On a podcast I was listening to last week, one of the hosts said this regarding fandom and stuff like this
“Expectation is the root of all problems”
This is so true in this case, we have had nearly 4 years to stew over what happened next, fan fics and theories, people seem to have picked what must happen and now that we know the major details of part 1 and it is different it is bad.

Sorry if that came across as a hate speech or rant, it was not intended to be, I am just expressing how I see it, I just am annoyed when I see comments like “Glad this leaked, now I don’t have to spend money on this c**p”
Thankfully everyone here has been open and reasonable with their opinions on what we have seen so far, with only minor complaints.

I understand why you would be concerned with the Zuko stuff, What I said above about Zuko for me (also a fairly big Zuko fan) anyway, explains and makes this completely In character. Also What Zuko says next to Ozai is so important.

Can I just say what were the staff at Avatar Spirit thinking posting the final panel as the main picture to go along with their news post about the leak.

Anyone who goes to the main page of the site is instantly spoiled.

SHE HAS THE WHOLE BOOK UP IN RIGHT ORDER!!!!!!!!!!

In light of some events that have happened recently. I guess I am hesitant to argue my points on this and just leave it as an agree to disagree type of thing.

Why argue when you can just discuss here , nothing is gained from not talking about news on an Avatar discussion forum.
I am looking over everything to make sure nothing gets out of hand, and so far on this site nothing has, so I see no reason why any of us need to worry about expressing our opinions.
The whole point of a forum like this is to discuss stuff like this, we all won’t agree, but we have never got into an argument over anything.
We all just need to be open with our opinions.

As for the new pages, wow it just gets better and better. I really want to know Ozai’s angle, he plants the seed in Zuko’s head about his job changing him and that only Ozai can give him advice. He is using the fact that he knows about Ursa’s fate as a weapon.
