    Our Wait is over, new Avatar comic news. The first Trade of the post Book 3 Avatar comics has been announced, here is the cover above.

    The key line from the solicit
    beginning with a faceoff against the Fire Nation that threatens to throw the world into another war, testing all of Aang’s powers and ingenuity!
    The continuation of Airbender and the link to its upcoming sequel, Legend of Korra!

    So we know now that it will link in some way into Korra. This also confirms that there will be at least 2 volumes and at least 2 parts within these volumes.

    Gurihuru on Art, is good, not who I would have picked but if they can make the serious parts serious using his style it will be great

    @airspeed
    FANTASTIC NEWS!!!

    I love the updated looks, it’s good that it will link in with Korra.

    But I must say, a part of me is concerned hearing about the face-off against the Fire Nation. Please, no villains-return-to-wreak-havoc-thing.

    @atreides
    I think they mean more of a “there are still people and soldiers in the Fire Nation loyal to Ozai’s regime” thing.

    My big question “How will @tracycruze like Zuko’s new hair ???”

    Yes, but I hope that one particular character is not one of them.

    Is this particular character, Ozai or Azula ?

    The title is interesting, I have no idea what it refers to , I am thinking maybe something to do with Ursa.

    @airspeed *Gets the scissors* You were saying? *Snip snip until its shaggy* :D

    Growing up, we were taught that the Fire Nation was the greatest civilization in history and somehow, the war was our way of sharing our greatness with the rest of the world. What an amazing lie that was!

    Oh man this is EPIC!! *marking calendar* Really glad they decided to tie up loose ends with ATLA before LoK airs, since many fans (including us!) have gotten so investing in the characters. It would be mega awesome to see if they’ll release some new LoK info to make the wait for January a little easier! We’ll see..

    I’m just wondering.

    Bryan and Mike are not the writers in this, but do they have an idea on how the story will continue?

    In short, are they giving the writers total freedom as long as they make it fit in with ATLA and Korra, or are they supervising the story so it matches their vision for what really happened in between?

    From the writer himself, he has been working closely with Mike and Bryan. The same goes for anything that is considered Canon , like The Lost Adventures.
    Mike and Bryan would have the general Story Outline, but they are not Comic writers themselves. So they give a certain freedom to the writer more to keep the comic style as Mike and Bryan are used to tv show writing.

    @airspeed
    WOW, he’s been working on it since January, hopefully that means it’s a large story. But apparently, he doesn’t agree with you on everything Airspeed :)

    “This isn’t the first comic I’ve done on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Right before the live-action movie was released, I did a short webcomic protesting the movie’s casting decisions. I still feel pretty strongly about it. If you get a couple beers in me and bring up the topic I’ll go off like an Asian Samuel L. Jackson. I have yet to see the movie, and now I have an even better reason to avoid it: the only A:TLA universe I want inside my head as I’m writing these comics is the animated one. The real one.”

    @atreides
    Ugh, that doesn’t count, that is something he did on his own. I am glad he is a fan of the show but shocked that he went to the effort of doing a comic to oppose a movie that had not even come out yet and one that he refuses to see.
    If he is a good writer I am sure I can get past his negativity towards the movie and what seems to be support for Racebending

    @atreides
    I really do not like the fact that he did that, the fact that he is telling people to not see it is just too far, it is clear he doesn’t like the movie there is no need to start a campaign against the movie.
    It is as simple as this “Why does he care so much ?” it is meant to be a fun movie, it was not a personal slight against him, Avatar is Asian inspired not Avatar characters are Asian.

    Back on topic, I am a fan of Gurihiru’s art and I think especially expressions from characters will be great in this, his art is so characterful. I would like to know just how many Volumes and parts are planned.
