Official Avatar The Last Airbender Graphic Novels Pick up the story where Avatar Season 3 Left Off
For those of you dying to see Aang and Gang back in action you are in luck.” While not a TV series there is an official Avatar Comic book being released July 13th that has stories in the Airbender Continuity.” After that there are a series of Graphic Novels that are set after the events of Season 3 that will continue the Avatar storyline, these will come early 2012.
Here is a summary of the news:
- On May 7th Two introductory stories from Avatar The Last Airbender will be released.
- July 13th will be when the 240 page comic book “The Lost Adventures” will be released, said to be similar to the Comics released in the late Nickelodeon Magazines, and a “continuation” of them.
- Early 2012 will be when the Graphic Novels set after events of Season 3 will be released and “will follow the further adventures of Aang and his friends, as they help to rebuild a world torn apart by 100 years of war.” This one should answer the questions about Zukos Mom, Azula, Romance, etc..
- Published by Dark Horse Comics, the Same people who brought us the fantastic Avatar The Last Airbender – Art of the Animated Series
- Backed by Series Creators who are “Excited” for the new project.
- Exciting News!
Dark Horse Comics (the people who brought us Avatar: The Art of the Animated Series), are releasing a 240-page comic book set in the Avatar Continuity
While this comic book is set in the continuity of Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Lost Adventures is not necessarily set after the events of Season 3.
In addition Dark Horse is publishing all-new Avatar: The Last Airbender stories, Paperback Graphic Novels that are set after the events of Season 3 of Avatar The Last Airbender. It is quite possible that alot of the questions you have about Avatar The Last Airbender will be answered in these graphic novels or in “The Lost Adventures”.
The new series is backed by Avatar: The Last Airbender creators who said -We had a great experience collaborating with Dark Horse on Avatar: The Last Airbender — The Art of the Animated Series,” series co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino said. -We are excited to work closely with them once again to bring the further adventures of Avatar Aang and his friends to the comic world.”
The graphic novels that are for sure set after Season 3 of Avatar are scheduled to release early 2012
Dark Horse Comics brought us the incredible Avatar: The Last Airbender - Art of the Animated Series book. Now they are hard at work on an Avatar The Last Airbender Comic book set in the Airbender Continuity + Graphic Novels set After Season 3 of Avatar The Last Airbender
So looks like Avatar Series Creators want to get the loose ends of Avatar The Last Airbender tied up in comic book form, which should free up some more time in Avatar The Legend of Korra for the Korra storyline.
Avatar The Last Airbender the Art of The Animated Series was incredible, so I have high hopes for these new stories in the Avatar The Last Airbender Continuity!” And looks like the loose ends of Avatar The Last Airbender will probably be tied up at last!

What happened to Toph’s parents?)! I’ve always wanted a comic series for this and it’s FINALLY happened (while still moving on to Legend of Korra). Well, soon we’ll all get to geek out over this again!

Yeah, but we do get the Nick comics and new stories in a few months, The Graphic Novels are what everyone will be waiting for I presume they will be about 100 pages each, and about 3 of them, seeing as those small stories are 240 pages

Hope we can order online as I don’t think they will end up here in little ole New Zealand, so hoping like mad to be able to pre-order via Dark Horse and get them posted here…. Otherwise, will have to find a wonderful American Friend to scope all the comic stores in their area to find them and then post them to me…

Are there not that many Comic Stores in New Zealand ?, you could get your local store to get in the Avatar Comics for you.
If not then Amazon will be the best bet.
I am pretty much stalking Amazon waiting for the preorder to go up.
ooooooooooooooooooooo yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally !!!! I’m tired of re-reading the ATLA comics !

Airspeed Prime Reply:February 14th, 2011 at 3:53 pm
They are involved , they say they are excited for this project.
I take it they basically laid out the main story and asked for a certain Art Style.
They won’t be doing the Art

do you think a books a million or barnes and noble will have them?
Reply
Airspeed Prime Reply:February 14th, 2011 at 3:56 pm
Well they are Graphic Novels so basically multiple Comics put together into a bigger book.
So I would say most regular Book stores won’t have them, Amazon or Checking out your local Comic store would be the best way to make sure you get them.

Admin / Jordash Reply:February 14th, 2011 at 9:31 pm
Yeah I think they will be pretty available, and available online with Dark Horses new online features.

I just hope my local comic store decides to get these in, They usually get in Trade Paperbacks and most hardback books, but they didn’t get in The Avatar Art book.
They are also not participating in Free Comic Book Day and you can’t specifically order/subscribe to stuff either, so I think I will probably order them online.
Also are they not just the Free comic book, The 240 page The Lost Adventures and however many trades of post Book 3 they do ? I don’t think there is a series

The sad part is, the seem to think everyone North of Duluth is only interested in ice fishing. I watch the Weather Channel once in awhile, and the were talking about Embarrass and International Falls and the record low and the debate. I have to laugh. Hibbing gets left out. Bob Dylan was born there. We had the record. We have our own claim to fame, but our town looks nothing like “Field of Dreams.” The famous Doc “Moonlight Graham” was born in my town. He swabbed my Mom’s tonsils. We hit -65° They leave that out. As well as tornado touchdowns. Alas…

Ya never hear about these things in the UK D: no local comic stores (in Wales at least ‘cos that’s where i live) and amazon never send me notifications about the cool stuff coming out. My friends haven’t ever seen ATLA so I’ve gotta sort that out to… So much 2 do and so little time 2 do it in.

And a forbidden Planet in Cardiff.
Not sure if they help.
