The Last Airbender Legend Of Korra Panel News
The Last Airbender Legend Of Korra just had its panel. Here is the information we got from the panel:
The day before the panel this poster was given out to attendees
Korra on her Polar Bear Dog, the first SDCC poster, The Polar Bear dog is Named Naga and is Female
And the shows name was revealed along with the Title Logo

First before the panel even started a new Korra poster was available

New Legend of Korra Information Learned From San Diego Comic Con
Read a summary of all of the information we learned about The Legend of Korra!
- Republic City is called “United Republic” it was founded by Aang and Zuko
- Korra’s gAang includes Mako the Firebender and Bolin the Earthbender from the above poster, the two are brothers
Mako and Bolin, Brothers
- Mako is older he is the brooding one (not as much as Zuko), Bolin is the goofy one, Naive. With Bolin they got to incorporate some of the original male Toph’s character
- Korra’s Polar Bear Dog is name Naga

- Bolin’s animal is named Paloo, He is a Red Panda Black Footed Ferret known as a Fire Ferret in the show
- There are new species of Flying Lemurs, Ring Tailed Wing Lemur, they come more into play in season 2
- Aang finds a heard of Sky Bison after the war, Slightly different design

- Aang and Katara have 3 kids, Tenzin is the youngest and the only Airbender
- They live on an island of the coast of republic City, Air Temple Island (I think)
- He himself has 3 kids of his own, Ikki, Jinora and Meelo. His Wife is Pema “Â (Non bender)who is pregnant. All 3 kids are Airbenders.
- Tenzin has a beard and is serious and is good with the kids.
- Jinora is a bookworm and the eldest
- Ikki is fun and crazy and a fast talker
- Meelo is the youngest
Tenzin, his wife Pema and three kids: Meelo, Ikki and Jinora
- The revolution group is called The Equalists, lead by the masked man in the poster above named Avon/Amon(it was hard to hear)
Masked Equalist Leader Avon/Amon (people heard it differently)
- His henchmen are Chi Blockers, all masked
Equalist Henchman, they can block Chi
- There are Metalbender Cops who were trained by Toph (who travels around teaching elite Earthbenders the ability, a Metalbender Swat team), they have spools on their backs that have metal chains in them, so they can Zip around teh city
- Toph has a daughter who is Chief of Police

- There is Professional Bending fights between Teams of 3 benders (one of each bending discipline, I presume Airbenders are not yet high in numbers) in arenas, Epic fights
- Josh Middleton who drew the poster of Korra on Naga has come on board for the second season of Korra, as is Lauren Montgomery
- First Season is 12 episodes, Second is 14 episodes,
- For these Pro bending fights they have brought in new martial arts (Mixed Martial Arts), they brought in to help with MMA Mac Danzig and Jeremy Umphries” along with the returning Sifu Kisu. And there is a parkour/freerunning aspect in the fights to with Jake Huang and Steve Terada helping out there.
- On the music side of things, The style they are going for is if China invented Jazz in the 20′s, also Western and Ethical music
- The panelists urged fans to contact Nickelodeon about the need for an ATLA soundtrack and mentioned multiple times how dedicated Avatar fans are.

I’m not Avatar Mom, although we both come from ASN. She’s much more well known in the community than I am, I’ve been around since 2007, but she’s been dedicated to the fans and fansites for years.
Was Donna by any chance dressed as Avatar Yangchen? If so, then yes, I had the pleasure of meeting her and she even let me take a picture of her awesome costume while holding my Appa plush haha!

Yes! Very true. If ya watched airspeed’s videos from the panel you can see how quickly mike and bryan changed the subject when the audience noticed how they “innocently” forgot to mention the father when saying toph’s daughter was chief of police! Too funny!

Yeah I think it is definitely Amon too, because the red circle on his mask may be a reference to the Egyptian God Amun Ra also known as Amon, who I believe is often drawn with that red circle above his head.

Name has been confirmed as Amon, Yeah I presume his identity will be a big reveal near the end of Korra, the theories are flying around already.
Yeah you can sort of see it in the trailer, the way they are trying to go for the pressure points like Ty Lee

i bet someone mentioned this… but i knew the polar bear dog looked familiar because it is an old design i saw in the art of avatar tla book. i think the polar bear dog was an early concept for apaa?

Very right you are! During the recent ComicCon the creators mentioned they used the new seasons of Avatar as a chance for them to flesh out their earlier ideas into reality. Naga was definitely one of them. Another, Bolin, who was originally going to be Toph character in ATLA!! (Yes, Toph was going to be a GUY at first!) Really glad they switched it out for the Toph we all know, but I’m kinda excited to see the comedic, goofy friend of the new Avatar. Hope this helps!

You are correct Drew, a bipedal Polar Bear dog was the original idea for the Appa character.
And later on in the art book it is mentioned that we would see this design again, so this means they were thinking about Korra or at least another show since they started work on that book.

Wow great call it’s definitely a possibly! Because Ty Lee was last seen as a Kyoshi warrior (and with the “good guys”), I don’t see Amon being her direct apprentice. Here’s how I see it in my mind:
The Kyoshi warriors of LoK teacher their pupils Chi-Blocking once Ty Lee joined. But one day one of the warriors becomes overwhelmed with jealousy of those who could bend, and defects to join the Equalists. Sort of like a Fallen Angel, she would a vital aspect of their efforts to capture/ eradicate the benders, for the Equalists now have an effective way to render benders defenseless.

Because I think a lot of us are not just fans of ATLA and it’s characters but rather a fan of the Avatar universe as a whole. As we see in ATLA the world has a massive history and so many opportunities for amazing stories
-The First Avatar
-A future Sozin’s comet
-More Avatar’s
-Life before the Avatar and the spirits involvement
The list goes on.
That is not to say that myself and others are not sad about Aang and co not playing a large role in Korra, but the show has to be good on its own and not “held up” by having Aang and co in it, and I think all Avatar fans should be willing to give Korra a chance especially since we all gave ATLA, a completely new idea when it first cam out, a chance. Korra will be about Korra and the new characters, For me it will be really interesting to get an in depth look into the mind of a new Avatar, A water tribe one, a female one. We get a look at how much the world has changed, we will see how Aang and Zuko have changed the world between the shows.
IMO it all comes down to, if you are really a fan of Avatar, Avatar as a whole not just the show Avatar The Last Airbender, you will give Korra a chance and enjoy it. The same crew with new ideas working on it, Animation has advanced, the crew are more experienced.
From what I have see from other people on here, I think most people would agree with what I said above.
It is new Avatar, it has been 3 and will be 4 years by the time Korra starts, since we last had New Avatar on tv, what is not to like.
Plus we will get more about Aang and co in the upcoming Comics, “The Promise”

Yes there are 3 graphic novels coming out, The Promise parts 1, 2 and 3
Part 1 is out January 25th, Part 2 in May and then Part 3 around July/August.
